While studying vocal performance in college, Shawn Michael Foley AIFD, CFD, PFCI
had a change of heart. He saw a want ad in the newspaper for a floral designer, applied on a whim, got the job and quickly caught the “flower bug.”
He attended as many conventions and classes as he could afford, and in 2011 started his own business, Design Lab Botanicals in Wausau, Wisconsin, where he experimented with mechanics and techniques to develop his own style.
Hungry for large-scale artistic projects, Foley launched the Human Form Project in 2012. This annual series of photographs highlights the beauty of the human body with grand botanical accessories and has appeared in several European magazines, including Flowers World and Blomster.
In 2014, Shawn accepted a Lead Design position at HotHouse Design Studio in Birmingham, AL. His love of creating wedding flowers would prove to be a natural fit in his new found job.
His passion for education and creativity landed him the coveted title of Mayesh Design Star in 2016. Foley brings his own creative spark to the industry along with eagerness to educate and share his techniques for weddings, body flowers and floral artistry.
Foley has presented on the main stage of the American Institute of Floral Designer's Regional & National Symposiums.
In 2017 Shawn was Inducted into both the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) And became a member of Professional Floral Communicators International (PFCI) a designation of the Society of American Florists (SAF).
Along the way... Creative burnout hit, and it hit hard. Still wanting to fuel his passion for the floral arts Shawn set out to find answers about life. After some soul searching he began pursuing his journey to self healing by receiving his Reiki 1 attunements and starting work on his spirit. The shifts began to restore Foley's love of flowers and opened a floodgate of new ideas and drive.
Now a certified Reiki Master Practitioner & Teacher and accredited practicing floral designer, Foley continues to develop energy healing programs, floral education, motivational speaking, private mentoring and coaching.
Although Shawn's programs are beneficial to everyone, they are specifically designed for the creative professional seeking relief from burnout, stress, stagnation and frustration.
